Three distinct rhythms

Tokyo remains the practical base for neighbourhoods and destination meals. One tightly sequenced Nikko day combines mountain scenery and shrine architecture before Hakone slows the pace around onsen, art and Lake Ashi.

Planning version: 27 September 2026. One adult, one room, seven hotel nights.

Status: flight-confirmed, itinerary planning-complete, hotels/restaurants/ground transport booking-incomplete. The route, daily structure, candidate hotels, meal strategy and booking order are complete. Hotel checkout totals, restaurant seats and November transport departures are not yet confirmed. Do not treat the recommended activity times as tickets.

Read Before Booking

Required Decision: Hakone Value or Fujiya Pool

Fujiya Hotel is no longer the value recommendation. Trip.com returned no room inventory for the exact dates on 22 September. Fujiya's official site still showed the target 33-35 m2 COMFY LODGE & RESTFUL COTTAGE Twin at JPY132,000 total (about S$1,200) room-only, or JPY125,400 at the displayed member rate. The pool, heritage setting and onsen remain appealing, but the premium is now substantial.

Choose one of these before booking Hakone:

  1. Switch to Hakone Yutowa, recommended for location and value. The refreshed 30 m2 Gora half-board quote is S$671 total. Confirm that meals apply on both dates.
  2. Switch to Blisstia for maximum savings. The 50 m2 Sengokuhara half-board quote is S$467 total, accepting greater bus dependence.
  3. Keep Fujiya only if the indoor pool and heritage hotel justify roughly S$1,200 room-only. Reserve Kikka-so separately and retain the current Fujiya-based daily schedule.

Do not split the two Hakone nights across two properties. The revised route requires only one countryside hotel stay.

Route and Accommodation

Check-in / checkout Nights Recommended hotel and room Nightly planning allowance Observed quote and inclusions
7-11 Nov 4 Hotel Monterey Akasaka, Standard Double, non-smoking, listed 16-18 m2 S$240-280 S$984 total, room only; displayed free cancellation before 29 Oct, 22:00
11-13 Nov 2 Fujiya Hotel, COMFY LODGE & RESTFUL COTTAGE Building Twin, non-smoking, listed 33-35 m2 S$570-620, room only JPY132,000 total (~S$1,200) direct, room only; Trip.com showed no inventory
13-14 Nov 1 Hotel Monterey Akasaka, Standard Double, non-smoking S$200-280 S$211, room only; a 14-16 m2 single was S$208
Total 7 Two different properties, three stays About S$2,395, before bathing tax or optional meals

The Tokyo searches used one adult, although some room-only rate cards show capacity for two. Confirm the total with one registered guest at checkout. Do not mistake room capacity for an extra guest or breakfast inclusion.

  2. Hold either Hakone Yutowa or Blisstia while resolving the Fujiya-versus-value decision.
  3. Obtain written confirmation about Monterey's two-night suitcase storage from 11 to 13 November.
  4. Resolve the Fujiya-versus-food-led-ryokan decision before booking non-refundable Hakone meals.
  5. Record the total, cancellation deadline and confirmation number for every reservation in this document or your calendar.

Alternative Hotels Checked

The decision-relevant Hakone alternatives were refreshed on 22 September 2026 for one room and one adult. Prices are observed two-night totals including displayed taxes and fees, not guaranteed checkout prices. Nikko hotels are no longer booking candidates because Nikko is now a day trip.

Hakone Alternatives: 11-13 November

Hotel Room/plan checked Two-night quote Best for Material drawback
Blisstia Hakone Sengokuhara Standard Twin, 50 m2 S$349 breakfast / S$467 half-board Lowest-cost upscale option: very large room, public onsen and meals; half-board saves about S$733 against Fujiya room-only Sengokuhara requires buses and is less convenient than Gora for the Open-Air Museum and mountain railway
Hakone Yutowa Standard Twin, 30 m2; breakfast and dinner for one S$671 half-board Best location-value replacement: Gora location, onsen, large room and meals; saves about S$529 against Fujiya room-only No swimming pool; confirm that breakfast and dinner are included on both dates rather than relying on the summary label
Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori Casual Twin, 23 m2; breakfast and dinner buffet for one S$835 Best value with meals, lake setting, onsen and immediate access to Togendai ropeway/cruise Large property and buffet dining rather than intimate kaiseki
Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori Standard room, 31 m2; breakfast and dinner buffet for one S$1,051 Better luggage space while retaining half-board More expensive than Fujiya's room-only quote, though meals are included
Hakone Kowakien Hotel Casual Twin, 18 m2; breakfast and dinner for one S$864 Lowest verified swimming-pool option; unlimited Yunessun swimwear-zone access and hotel onsen Compact room, buffet dining and a family-oriented atmosphere
Hakone Kowakien Hotel Standard Type B, 30 m2; breakfast and dinner for one S$1,133 Pool access with acceptable luggage space Still family-oriented rather than a quiet luxury retreat
Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa Twin room, approximately 56 m2 S$1,601 room-only / S$1,663 with breakfast Best conventional luxury alternative: very large room, Gora location, onsen and stronger hotel dining No swimming pool; materially more expensive than Fujiya
Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu Private open-air onsen in every room No exact Trip.com solo inventory Resort atmosphere, dramatic public baths and complimentary Yunessun access Large/family-oriented property; obtain a direct one-adult quote
Hakone Suishoen Suites from about 55 m2 with private onsen Not accepting Trip.com bookings for these dates Strongest food-first option: small luxury property with kaiseki or teppanyaki No verified date-specific price or swimming pool; book directly if choosing it

Official sites: Ashinoko Hanaori / Hakone Kowakien Hotel / Hyatt Regency Hakone / Ten-yu / Hakone Suishoen

Hakone recommendation by priority:

Recommended value combination: the two Monterey stays (S$1,195) plus Hakone Yutowa half-board (S$671) total about S$1,866 for all seven hotel nights. Choosing Blisstia instead lowers the hotel total to about S$1,662. Both remove the Nikko hotel while keeping the same trip length.

Agoda Deal Search and Cross-Check: 22 September

Agoda was searched beyond the original hotel list using the exact dates, one room and one adult. Agoda displayed two different kinds of result:

Existing Itinerary Hotels

Stay Agoda result Comparison / decision
Monterey Akasaka, 7-11 Nov The earlier two-night result does not apply to the revised stay Recheck the exact four-night dates against Trip.com's documented S$984 Standard Double before booking. Reject any combination that changes rooms mid-stay.
Monterey Akasaka, 13-14 Nov No payable rate Use Trip.com's S$211 Standard Double.
Fujiya Hotel No payable rate; four room types shown sold out Official direct inventory remains available at about S$1,200 room-only.
Hakone Yutowa No payable room rate Trip.com's S$671 half-board is the usable quote.
Blisstia Hakone Sengokuhara Sold out Trip.com's S$349 breakfast / S$467 half-board inventory is stronger.

Broader Agoda Search: Hakone, 11-13 November

Candidate Dated Agoda result Fit and comparison
Wisterian Life Club Verde no Mori Partner lead from S$99/night, about S$198 Best raw price lead. Typical rooms are 38-40 m2, with onsen and indoor pool. It is an older property near Yunessun, about 800 m from Naka-Gora, and recent reviews flag dated facilities and awkward luggage access. Meals, room type, cancellation and final total were not exposed.
Hotel Marroad Hakone Partner lead from S$169/night, about S$338 Best location-value lead. Non-smoking twins are generally 28 m2; the Gora hotel has an onsen and station shuttle. It is approximately the same price as Blisstia's S$349 breakfast rate, so choose Marroad only if the landing page confirms a suitable room and Gora convenience matters more than Blisstia's 50 m2 room and included breakfast.
EN RESORT ReCove Hakone Partner lead from S$175/night, about S$350 Spacious 28-32 m2 rooms and onsen, but the Sengokuhara location and unconfirmed meal plan make Blisstia's S$349 breakfast quote the better documented choice.
WPU Hotel Hakone Agoda-direct S$86 average/night with taxes, about S$172 Reject: the deal combines one dormitory night with a 13 m2 shared-bath double on night two and requires a room change.
Mount View Hakone Agoda-direct S$368 average/night with taxes, about S$736 Reject: room change, 21-22 m2 rooms and a shared bathroom on the second night; it is costlier than Yutowa half-board.
Tokinoyu Setsugetsuka / Laforet Gora / Kowakien Hotel / Hakone Nanase / Pax Yoshino / Hotel Okada / Hakone Retreat fore Partner leads from about S$261-S$742/night None beats Yutowa or Blisstia after location, meals and room certainty are considered.
Onsen Hotel Gorakan, TKP Lectore Gora, Hakone Terrace Annex, Mori no Seseragi, Gora Kansuiro and Sengokuhara Prince Sold out No actionable Agoda inventory.

Agoda conclusion: keep Trip.com/direct as the default booking route. Recheck Monterey's exact four-night dates rather than extrapolating the obsolete two-night result. Before paying for Hakone, open Wisterian and Marroad once more: consider Wisterian only if a non-smoking 38 m2-or-larger room is no more than S$250 total, or Marroad if a non-smoking 28 m2 twin is no more than S$380 total, with acceptable cancellation terms. Otherwise retain Blisstia for lowest documented cost or Yutowa for the strongest Gora-and-meals combination.

Meal Strategy at a Glance

The sequence deliberately alternates noodles, fish, beef, eel, regional specialties, French, kaiseki, tofu and counter dining. The fallback is chosen for the same route, not merely the same cuisine.

3, Aoyama/Yurakucho Aoyama Ototo: grilled fish and iron-pot rice Sumiyaki Unafuji Yurakucho: hitsumabushi/unagi Shokudo Wata for lunch; Sarashina Horii for an early soba dinner

Day 0: Friday 6 November - Changi Departure

Time Activity Practical detail
21:30-22:15 Finish packing and check in online when available. Confirm JAL flight number, Changi terminal, HND arrival terminal and baggage allowance from the issued ticket.
22:30-23:20 Travel to Changi Airport. Actual departure time depends on home location; preserve at least three hours before the 02:20 flight.
23:20-00:20 Bag drop/check-in, then security and immigration. Follow JAL/Changi counter opening instructions; do not rely on an assumed terminal.
00:20-01:35 Supper or lounge, refill water after security and reach the gate. Avoid a heavy meal if intending to sleep onboard.
02:20 JAL departs SIN for HND. Overnight flight; Saturday arrival at 09:55 JST.

Day 1: Saturday 7 November - Arrive and Eat Well Without Overcommitting

Sleep: Monterey Akasaka, night 1 of 4. The refreshed four-night block is S$984 room-only.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
09:55-11:30 Arrive at HND, immigration, baggage and customs. Obtain cash and activate mobile data. Allow 60-95 minutes, longer if busy. Carry hotel address and passport.
11:30-12:45 Keikyu from HND to Shinagawa; JR Yamanote to Shimbashi; Ginza Line to Akasaka-Mitsuke; walk to hotel. About 60-75 minutes including changes/walking; JPY700-1,000. Follow the actual train destination; not every airport train is direct to Shinagawa.
12:45-13:00 Leave luggage at Monterey. Room may not be ready until 15:00.
13:00-13:30 Ginza Line, Akasaka-Mitsuke to Ginza; walk to Ginza Bairin Main. JPY180-250; allow 25-30 minutes door-to-door.
13:30-14:45 Lunch: Bairin. Choose special katsudon or kurobuta loin tonkatsu, not both. Published JPY2,400 special katsudon / JPY3,800 kurobuta set. Queue allowance included.
14:45-15:30 Return to Akasaka and check in. Same subway route, JPY180-250.
15:30-17:30 Shower, nap and recover from the overnight flight. No prepaid attraction.
17:30-18:00 Travel back to Ginza for an early dinner. Ginza Line; JPY180-250.
18:00-19:30 Torigin Ginza Honten: charcoal yakitori and one kamameshi rice pot. JPY3,500-5,500 allowance. Treat as walk-in, not a confirmed reservation.
19:30-20:15 Short Ginza walk, then return to hotel. JPY180-250 subway. Sleep early.

Food booking: Bairin official menu/hours lists 11:30-21:00, last order 20:00. Torigin information lists 11:30-22:00, last order 21:00. Neither is a necessary prepaid booking in this plan. Allow 30-45 minutes for a queue; if arrival is delayed, have a light station meal and visit Bairin another day.

Dress: casual, comfortable shoes. Daily allowance excluding hotel: JPY8,000-12,000 including meals, snacks and transit.

Day 2: Sunday 8 November - Yanaka/Nezu, Tennis and Wagyu

Sleep: Monterey Akasaka, night 2 of 4.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
07:15-07:50 Light breakfast in the hotel or room and prepare running kit. JPY700-1,500 allowance. Do not leave the hotel before 08:00.
08:00-08:45 Optional easy 5 km jog: hotel to the Akasaka Palace perimeter, one 3.3 km outer loop, then return. The loop has several hills; keep this conversational because the tennis lesson is later the same day.
08:45-09:30 Shower, hydrate and prepare for the day. Skip the run if sleep, rain or leg fatigue makes it a poor trade.
09:40-10:25 Akasaka-Mitsuke to Tameike-Sanno on Ginza Line; walk within the connected station to Kokkai-gijidomae, then Chiyoda Line to Nezu. Walk to Yanaka. 40-45 minutes including interchange/walking; JPY210-300.
10:25-11:15 Yanaka backstreets, small craft shops and a slow walk toward Nezu. Outdoor streets free; individual shops open at varying times, often 10:00-11:00 onward.
11:15-12:45 Queue and lunch at Nezu Kamachiku. JPY2,000-4,000 allowance for udon and sides. Join the queue before the 11:30 opening.
12:45-13:45 Nezu lanes and optional Yanaka Ginza. Keep this neighbourhood-focused, not a repeat major-attraction tour. Walk 20-30 minutes between areas. Free except shopping.
13:45-14:45 Travel to Hilton Tokyo, Shinjuku, and change for tennis. Chiyoda/Marunouchi or Oedo Line; allow 45-60 minutes and JPY250-400.
15:00-16:00 One private tennis lesson on Hilton Tokyo's outdoor court, taught by Tokyo Tennis International. Visitor lesson JPY16,000 for 60 minutes. The separate weekend visitor court tariff is JPY10,000 per court for 1-2 people; obtain a written all-in quote because the published pages do not state whether a lesson already includes court hire.
16:00-16:40 Change, weather check and short recovery at the fitness centre. Confirm in advance that a non-hotel visitor may use its changing facilities. Bring tennis shoes; ask for a loan racket when booking.
16:40-17:40 Shinjuku to Ginza; walk to Ushigoro Ginza, ONE GINZA 7F, 1-8-19 Ginza. Allow 45-60 minutes and JPY210-300; arrive at least 10 minutes early.
18:00-20:00 Reserved wagyu yakiniku dinner at Ushigoro Ginza. JPY10,000-15,000 planning allowance, plus drinks if substantial. Request one-person dining; course minimums must be checked.
20:00-21:00 Return to hotel and recover from tennis. Ginza Line; JPY180-250. There is no checkout tomorrow; keep the evening light.

Reservations and hours:

Dress: pack running shoes, tennis shoes and technical sportswear, then change to smart casual for dinner; no strong perfume. Daily allowance excluding hotel: JPY42,000-51,000 if both lesson and separate court fees apply.

Day 3: Monday 9 November - Tokyo Recovery Day and Early Night

Sleep: Monterey Akasaka, night 3 of 4. Keep this day deliberately flexible before tomorrow's full Nikko day.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
08:00-09:30 Sleep in and have an unhurried breakfast near Akasaka. JPY800-1,800. No timed reservation.
10:00-11:15 Walk through Hie Shrine and the surrounding Akasaka streets. Grounds free. Keep this local rather than adding a cross-city attraction.
11:15-12:00 Walk or take the Ginza Line toward Gaienmae and arrive at Aoyama Ototo for opening. The restaurant sits on the Aoyama route, avoiding a separate food detour.
12:00-13:00 Lunch at Ototo: choose the seasonal grilled-fish set with iron-pot rice. JPY2,000-4,000 allowance. Monday lunch is listed around 12:00-14:00; reserve 12:00 for one if offered.
13:00-15:15 Continue through Aoyama/Omotesando for compact shopping. Purchases separate; keep the route within 30 minutes of the hotel.
15:15-16:45 Return to Monterey, rest and prepare the Nikko day pack. Pack warm layers, water, power bank and IC card; leave the suitcase in the room.
16:45-17:25 Ginza Line to Ginza; walk through Hibiya OKUROJI to Sumiyaki Unafuji Yurakucho. Allow 35-40 minutes and arrive early for a 17:30 reservation.
17:30-18:45 Early unagi dinner at Unafuji: choose hitsumabushi or a standard eel box rather than the largest course. JPY6,000-9,000 allowance. Counter seats suit solo dining; reserve because the room is small.
18:45-20:00 Return to Monterey and complete ticket, weather and clothing checks. Buy only water and a small emergency snack; tomorrow's regional lunch is pre-ordered separately.

Priority: this is a recovery and preparation day, not a spare slot for another major excursion. The Nikko plan still depends on reaching Asakusa before the reserved 09:30 limited express.

Food fit: Aoyama Ototo is on the Aoyama route and adds a restrained fish-led lunch after the previous night's beef. Sumiyaki Unafuji Yurakucho is open daily, accepts online reservations and has counter seating. Use Sarashina Horii for an earlier, lighter soba dinner only if Unafuji cannot be booked.

Dress: normal city layers and comfortable shoes. Daily allowance excluding hotel: JPY10,000-18,000 plus shopping.

Day 4: Tuesday 10 November - Nikko in One Long Day

Sleep: Monterey Akasaka, night 4 of 4. Leave the suitcase in the room and carry only a small day pack.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
08:30-09:15 Walk to Akasaka-Mitsuke; take the direct Ginza Line to Asakusa, then walk to Tobu platforms. JPY250-350. Tickets should already be issued; no taxi is needed.
09:15-09:30 Find the reserved car and board at Tobu-Asakusa. Keep the 15-minute platform margin rather than buying breakfast now.
09:30-11:22 Revaty Kegon 13 from Asakusa to Tobu-Nikko. Budget about JPY3,000-3,500 including base fare and limited-express supplement; reconfirm the November timetable.
11:22-11:40 Collect the pre-ordered SPACIA X Nikko Buried Treasure Bento from ACCESS inside Tobu-Nikko, then go directly to the bus stands. The connection is only about 18 minutes: prepayment details and exact pickup procedure must be confirmed by phone. Use IC payment for the bus.
11:40-12:25 Tobu bus from Tobu-Nikko to Chuzenji Onsen. Mountain traffic is the day's main risk. Keep a portable lunch in the day pack.
12:25-13:05 Kegon Falls, including the lower-viewpoint elevator. JPY600; November opening 08:00-17:00. Leave by 13:05 even if the elevator queue is long.
13:05-13:30 Short Lake Chuzenji eastern-shore view and the reserved regional bento: trout box sushi with yuba-seasoned rice. JPY3,300 at the currently published post-August price. Stay close to the bus terminal; this is not time for a cruise or sit-down meal.
13:35-14:02 Tobu bus from Chuzenji Onsen to Nishisando Iriguchi. Protect this departure. If traffic delays arrival beyond 15:10, go directly to Toshogu's entrance.
14:05-15:50 Nikko Toshogu: Yomeimon, main precinct and inner-shrine steps. JPY1,600 admission; optional audio guide JPY500. November opening 09:00-16:00, last entry 15:30.
15:50-16:15 Walk downhill to Shinkyo Bridge. Do not detour to Futarasan, Rinnoji, Taiyuin or Kanmangafuchi.
16:15-16:30 View Shinkyo from the public road. Exterior view free. The paid bridge crossing is unnecessary this late in the day.
16:30-17:20 Walk to Tobu-Nikko; buy an age-yuba manju at Sakaeya and a compact station dinner such as yuba inari or a light rice meal. JPY1,500-3,000. Do not queue for a seated meal or buy another large meat bento.
17:20-17:35 Enter the station and board the reserved train. Keep at least ten minutes before departure.
17:44-19:35 Target SPACIA X 12 from Tobu-Nikko to Asakusa; eat the light station dinner onboard. Budget JPY3,000-4,000 including base fare and reserved-seat supplement; reconfirm that this service operates on 10 November.
19:35-20:30 Ginza Line from Asakusa to Akasaka-Mitsuke; return to Monterey. JPY250-350. No further dinner plan.

Delay rule: the 13:35 bus from Chuzenji is non-negotiable because Toshogu's last entry is 15:30. If the outbound train or Irohazaka bus is delayed enough that Kegon and the lake cannot be completed by 13:30, shorten the lake stop and skip the Kegon elevator before risking Toshogu. If the bus reaches Nishisando after 15:10, enter Toshogu first and view Shinkyo while walking back to the station.

Scope limit: this is the maximum reliable scope after an 08:30 hotel departure. Ryuzu, Yudaki, Senjogahara, Futarasan, Rinnoji, Taiyuin, Kanmangafuchi, the embassy villas and a lake cruise do not fit. Akechidaira Ropeway is closed from 16 January 2026 to 31 August 2027.

Transport purchasing: reserve both limited expresses when the one-month sales window opens, and use individual fares/IC payment for local buses. The Tobu limited-express timetable and official 2026 bus timetable should be rechecked shortly before travel. The JPY8,000 Nikko All Area Pass is not automatically cheaper for this single-day route once its separately charged limited-express supplements are added.

Food logistics: Tobu Shoji's current station-bento list prices the limited SPACIA X bento at JPY3,300 and lists Tobu-Nikko pickup. Call 03-3623-0387 on a weekday, 10:00-17:00, between one month and three business days before pickup. Supply the date, one bento, Tobu-Nikko pickup and the 11:22 train arrival; stock remains limited. If the pickup cannot be executed inside the 18-minute bus connection, take a simpler Tokyo-bought backup instead.

Weather backup: if visibility or the Irohazaka road forecast is poor, skip Oku-Nikko and take a later direct Tobu train. Spend the day on Toshogu, Rinnoji/Taiyuin, Futarasan and Shinkyo, then have a relaxed Meiji-no-Yakata lunch. Do not force the lake segment in unsafe weather.

Dress: warm mid-layer, windproof outer layer, scarf and grippy shoes; the lake is considerably colder than Tokyo. Daily allowance excluding hotel: JPY15,000-22,000 including both limited expresses, local buses, admissions and meals.

Day 5: Wednesday 11 November - Tokyo to Hakone, Then Resort Time

Sleep: Fujiya Hotel, night 1 if retained. Official direct room-only price is approximately S$1,200; Trip.com currently shows no inventory. Budget replacements: Yutowa S$671 half-board or Blisstia S$467 half-board.

Recommended transfer: Akasaka -> Tokyo -> Odawara -> Hakone-Yumoto -> Miyanoshita. Allow 3.5-4.5 hours of travel/check-in logistics, including lunch. The simpler transfer is a major benefit of returning to Tokyo after the Nikko day trip.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
07:30-08:15 Breakfast inside Monterey or in the room, then complete packing. Do not leave the hotel before 08:00. Take only a two-night Hakone bag.
08:15-09:20 Check out, leave the main suitcase with Monterey if storage is confirmed, then walk to Akasaka-Mitsuke and take the Marunouchi Line to Tokyo Station. Subway JPY180-250. Allow extra time for the walk and station navigation with luggage.
09:45-10:30 Target a Kodama or stopping Hikari to Odawara. Approximately 35 minutes riding; JPY3,300-4,000. Only some Hikari trains stop at Odawara; Nozomi does not.
10:30-11:00 Walk from Odawara Station's east exit to Odawara Oden Honjin and wait for its listed 11:00 opening. About three minutes from the station. This short buffer also absorbs a minor Shinkansen delay.
11:00-11:45 Early lunch at Honjin. Choose local fish-cake oden and a small rice finish. JPY1,500-3,000 allowance. Verify Wednesday hours that week and leave by 11:45.
11:45-13:15 Buy/activate 3-day Hakone Freepass from Odawara, then train to Hakone-Yumoto and mountain train to Miyanoshita. JPY6,400, valid 11-13 Nov. Approximately 15 minutes + 25-30 minutes riding, plus connections.
13:15-15:00 Walk from Miyanoshita Station to Fujiya; leave the small bag and explore the hotel garden until check-in. About 7-10 minutes on sloping roads. Early luggage acceptance depends on the hotel.
15:00-17:30 Garden, hot-spring bath and indoor pool. Included guest facilities, subject to restrictions below. This is protected relaxation time, not another sightseeing circuit.
18:00-20:00 Reserved French dinner at Main Dining Room The Fujiya. JPY20,000-30,000 planning allowance with drinks. Choose a fish- or duck-led course rather than another wagyu meal.
20:00 onward Relax at the hotel; optional brief onsen session. Avoid bathing immediately after a large meal or alcohol.

Pass decision: buy the Hakone Freepass from Odawara, not Shinjuku, because the Tokyo-Odawara Shinkansen is separate. A nationwide JR Pass and Nikko All Area Pass are not justified by this route.

Dining: Odawara Oden Honjin is the route-first regional choice; if it is closed or full, use Toukaken in Lusca Odawara without delaying the 11:45 transfer. Main Dining Room The Fujiya serves classic French dinner 17:30-20:30, last order 19:30, by reservation, with smart-casual dress. Cascade is the same-hotel fallback. Confirm the November course, solo seat and final price before booking.

Dress: carry smart-casual dinner clothes in the small bag. Daily allowance excluding hotel: JPY32,000-44,000, including the three-day pass once, rail, lunch and dinner.

Day 6: Thursday 12 November - Hakone Loop and Japanese Dinner

Sleep: Fujiya Hotel, night 2. Budget S$450-600 room only.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
07:30-08:10 Breakfast at Fujiya, reserved Japanese breakfast or Western breakfast. JPY4,500-6,000 allowance unless your rate includes it.
08:10-09:15 Walk to Miyanoshita; mountain train to Gora; cable car to Sounzan. Around 20 minutes + 10 minutes riding, plus waits/walk. Covered by Freepass.
09:15-09:45 Ropeway from Sounzan to Owakudani. Allow 15-30 minutes including queue; Freepass. Official November operating window 09:00-17:00, weather permitting.
09:45-10:30 Owakudani viewpoints; optional black egg from Owakudani Kurotamagokan. Viewpoint free; allow JPY500-800 for a snack purchase. Eggs may be sold as a pack; they are optional, not a main food highlight.
10:30-11:30 Ropeway via Ubako to Togendai, then wait for the sightseeing boat. Reserve 45-60 minutes including boat wait; Freepass. No individual priority boarding assumed.
11:30-12:15 Hakone Sightseeing Cruise to Moto-Hakone-ko. About 30-40 minutes depending on stop pattern; Freepass standard cabin. Choose a departure that actually serves Moto-Hakone.
12:15-13:15 Shinsho Soba by Moto-Hakone: handmade soba; try Lake Ashi wakasagi if offered. JPY2,000-3,500 allowance; walk-in/queue, cash useful.
13:15-14:00 Walk to Hakone Shrine, cedar-lined approach and lakeside. 10-15 minutes each way from port area. Grounds free; skip the torii photo queue if long.
14:00-15:15 Walk back to Moto-Hakone; Hakone Tozan bus H toward Hakone-Yumoto/Odawara; alight at Hotel-mae for Fujiya. Approximately 30-45 minutes riding plus waiting; Freepass on the covered operator. Izu-Hakone buses are not interchangeable with it.
15:15-17:30 Pool/onsen, rest and change for dinner. Keep this time even if it means shortening the shrine stop.
18:00-20:00 Kikka-so, Fujiya's Japanese restaurant in the former imperial villa. Published Hana kaiseki JPY20,000, tax/service included; November menu and price must be confirmed. Reserve for one.

Food and operating links: Shinsho Soba features handmade soba and seasonal lake smelt. Local listings place weekday service around 11:00-15:30/16:00, with Wednesday often closed; this plan visits Thursday, but still check. If shut/sold out, use a port-area cafe such as Bakery & Table Hakone as a flexible fallback, with its actual hours checked that morning.

Kikka-so booking: published dinner 17:30-20:30, last order 19:30; reserve 18:00 and specify one guest. Japanese restaurant breakfast also requires a reservation. Private rooms can incur additional fees; book regular dining.

Weather backup: If ropeway/boat is suspended, replace the loop with the Open-Air Museum (scheduled tomorrow) and the hotel. Move the loop to Friday only if it permits returning to Tokyo comfortably before the reserved dinner; otherwise keep the relaxed Friday plan. Visitors with asthma/respiratory conditions should consult Owakudani's volcanic-gas restrictions before travelling.

Dress: warm windproof layer outside; smart casual at Kikka-so. No shorts, ripped jeans or beach sandals. Daily allowance excluding hotel: JPY28,000-35,000; main transport already paid.

Day 7: Friday 13 November - Art, Return to Tokyo and Tempura

Sleep: Monterey Akasaka, final night. Budget S$200-280; refreshed Standard Double quote S$211.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
07:30-08:15 Breakfast at Fujiya. JPY4,500-6,000 if not included.
08:15-08:40 Check out; leave small bag at reception until lunchtime. Do not assume room retention or pool access after checkout.
08:40-09:15 Miyanoshita -> Chokoku-no-Mori by mountain train; walk to museum. Approximately 15-20 minutes riding plus walk/wait; Freepass.
09:15-11:00 Hakone Open-Air Museum. JPY1,800 online / JPY2,000 same day; open 09:00-17:00, last admission 16:30, year-round.
11:00-11:15 Walk to Chokoku-no-Mori and ride one stop to Gora; check in at Tamura Ginkatsutei. Use a same-day FastPass if available; it gives priority, not a guaranteed immediate seat.
11:15-12:15 Lunch: Gora's tofu katsuni set, tofu filled with minced pork, fried and simmered with egg. JPY1,500-3,000 allowance. Hard stop at 12:15 to protect the Tokyo train.
12:15-12:45 Gora -> Miyanoshita; collect the bag from Fujiya. If not seated by 11:35, abort and use PICOT while collecting the bag.
12:45-14:00 Miyanoshita -> Hakone-Yumoto -> Odawara. 45-75 minutes including connections; Freepass.
14:00-14:55 Odawara -> Tokyo by Kodama or a stopping Hikari. About 35 minutes + wait; JPY3,300-4,000 estimate. Not included in Hakone Freepass.
14:55-15:45 Marunouchi Line Tokyo -> Akasaka-Mitsuke; hotel check-in and collect stored suitcase. 10-15 minutes riding + walking; JPY180-250.
15:45-16:15 Change and make final departure check. Keep this compact; lunch must not consume the dinner margin.
16:15-16:50 Ginza Line Akasaka-Mitsuke -> Ginza; walk to Tempura Kondo, 9F, 5-5-13 Ginza. JPY180-250; arrive at least 10 minutes early.
17:00-19:30 Tempura Kondo dinner, if reserved. Published courses start JPY22,000. Allow JPY24,000-32,000 with drinks, extras/booking fees.
19:30-20:30 Optional short Ginza walk, then subway back. JPY180-250; no late-night obligation.

Booking: Tempura Kondo official details list a schedule change from September 2026: dinner seatings 17:00 and 19:30, each 2.5 hours. Closed Sundays. Ask your hotel concierge to request a single counter seat, or use the booking route shown by the restaurant. Availability is not confirmed.

Lunch queue rule: Tamura Ginkatsutei releases same-day lunch FastPass access from 09:30 for JPY500 per person. It is priority access, not a fixed reservation, and the fee is non-refundable. Submit while at the museum only if the displayed arrival window preserves the 12:15 hard stop.

Fallback if Kondo is unavailable: ask the concierge for a single seat at Ginza Ten-ichi Honten around 18:00 and confirm its menu/price directly; allow JPY12,000-25,000 as an unverified planning range. For a low-commitment option, use Torigin or Bairin. Do not buy a non-refundable dinner before the return train plan is viable.

Dress: smart casual, clean closed shoes, no strong fragrance at the counter. Daily allowance excluding hotel: JPY35,000-46,000.

Day 8: Saturday 14 November - Sushi Lunch, Shopping and Haneda

Sleep: no Japan hotel night booked. Flight leaves just after midnight on 15 Nov.

Time Activity and route Cost / practical detail
07:15-07:50 Light breakfast in the hotel or room and prepare running kit. JPY700-1,500 allowance; keep appetite for sushi and do not leave before 08:00.
08:00-09:30 Primary 9-10 km jog: run from Monterey toward the west side of the Imperial Palace, complete one 5.3 km counter-clockwise loop, then return to the hotel. The palace loop is paved, mostly flat and has no traffic lights; keep left and give pedestrians priority.
09:30-10:15 Cool down, shower and repack running kit. Keep the pace easy. Do not turn this into a time trial before a long departure day.
10:15-10:30 Check out and leave luggage at Monterey for the day. Obtain a luggage claim receipt and verify collection deadline.
10:30-11:15 Ginza Line to Shimbashi; walk to Ginza Kyubey Main/Annex, 8-7-6 Ginza. 25-35 minutes door-to-door; JPY180-250.
11:30-13:00 Reserved counter sushi lunch at Kyubey. Published Karatsu course JPY11,000, or Kyubey nigiri JPY16,500, before any booking-agent extras.
13:00-15:45 Ginza shopping: start at the brand-operated Onitsuka Tiger Ginza store, then Itoya and department-store food halls. Onitsuka Tiger Ginza: 7-8-8 Ginza, normally 11:00-20:00. Allow queue and fitting time; purchases separate.
15:45-16:30 Optional short seated break, or go directly to Kagari if not needed. Cafes are not a planning priority; keep this as flexible recovery time rather than a destination stop.
16:30-17:30 Ginza Kagari Honten, 6-4-12 Ginza: chicken-paitan ramen. JPY2,000-3,500 allowance. Walk-in; abandon the queue if not seated by 17:15 and use department-store takeaway instead.
17:30-18:15 Ginza Line to Akasaka-Mitsuke; return to Monterey. JPY180-250, 25-40 minutes door-to-door.
18:15-19:15 Collect luggage and final checks. Verify airline app, terminal, baggage allowance and passport.
19:15-20:30 Ginza Line Akasaka-Mitsuke -> Shimbashi; JR Yamanote -> Shinagawa; Keikyu -> HND Terminal 3, subject to your ticket. JPY700-1,000; allow 60-75 minutes with luggage.
20:30-23:15 Airline check-in/bag drop when open, security, immigration and airport downtime. Aim for roughly 3.5 hours before departure. Counter opening may be later; check JAL instructions.
23:15 onward Be at the gate by the time printed on the boarding pass. Boarding may begin around 30-45 minutes before departure; actual airline instructions prevail.

Kyubey booking: Official menu and authorised booking routes. Open lunch 11:30-14:00, dinner 17:00-22:00; closed Sundays and Mondays. Book through your hotel concierge or its linked My Concierge Japan/Ikyu channel. Ask for one counter seat and check which lunch menus the channel permits. Published direct-price lunch menus are not necessarily the final agent package price.

Ramen: Kagari's listing gives approximately 11:00-21:30, no reservation. Check its official updates for exceptions. Bring a card/IC payment method; recent listings report cashless payment. Published prices differ across older guides, so the amount here is an allowance.

Fallback: a confirmed hotel sushi-counter lunch, or a walk-in sushi outlet with a clear displayed menu. Do not wait so long that luggage collection/airport travel becomes rushed. Saturday is intentionally not a countryside return day.

Optional room access: Seven nights means losing your room on Saturday morning. Ask for paid late checkout or a separate day-use room if a shower/nap before the flight matters. Budget S$100-300 additional as an unquoted allowance; an eighth full night may be required for guaranteed evening room access. Luggage storage does not include a room or shower.

Dress: run in technical layers, then change to smart casual for sushi and comfortable flight clothes later; no strong fragrance. Daily allowance excluding shopping/day-use: JPY16,000-25,000.

Day 9: Sunday 15 November - Arrive Home and Rest

Hakone and Nikko Food Alternatives

These regional choices are a route-aware supplement to the scheduled meals, not extra meal commitments. Unlike the Tokyo category guide below, they were not filtered by a single cross-platform rating threshold. Recheck November hours and seasonal closures before using one.

Hakone

Role / restaurant Cuisine / budget Practical use
Best local specialty near a transfer: Yuba-don Naokichi / Google Yuba rice bowl; Tabelog 3.49; JPY1,000-1,999 Three minutes from Hakone-Yumoto. Listed 11:00-18:00, closed Tuesday, no reservations. Strong regional alternative, but queues of 30-60 minutes can consume a transfer window.
Best bookable Gora meal: ITOH DINING by NOBU / booking Wagyu teppanyaki; Tabelog around 3.5; lunch about JPY4,500+, dinner about JPY14,000+ Approximately 5-8 minutes from Gora Station. Daily 11:30-15:00 / 17:00-21:00 and reservation-friendly. Best polished substitute if hotel dining changes, but it repeats premium beef.
Classic Hakone-Yumoto choice: Hatsuhana Soba Honten Mountain-yam soba and tempura Convenient during a Hakone-Yumoto transfer. Popular and queue-prone; arrive before opening rather than inserting it into a tight return-to-Tokyo day.
Casual Gora alternative: Gyoza Center Grilled, boiled and specialty gyoza Between Gora and Chokoku-no-Mori. More casual than Tamura or Itoh Dining, but another popular walk-in with variable queues.
Lake Ashi seafood option: Sakana Ryori Daimasa Honten Sagami Bay seafood and Lake Ashi wakasagi Near Hakone Sekisho/Hakone-machi rather than Moto-Hakone. Use only if the cruise and shrine route is deliberately changed; verify current service hours first.

Hakone decision: retain Shinsho Soba, Tamura Ginkatsutei, The Fujiya and Kikka-so for the current route. Naokichi and Itoh Dining are the most useful additions; the others are contingency choices when the day already passes their area.

Nikko

Role / restaurant Cuisine / budget Practical use
Best full-meal alternative: Meiji-no-Yakata / Google Historic yoshoku; Tabelog around 3.6; mains roughly JPY2,400-5,500 Near the World Heritage area. Omurice, beef hamburg, trout and beef stew; listed around 11:00-19:30. Use for the bad-weather/shortened sightseeing plan, not the full Oku-Nikko day.
Best casual yuba course: Nagomi Chaya / Google Yuba kaiseki; lunch On the Shinkyo-to-station corridor. Listed 11:30-15:30, last order 14:30, closed Wednesday/irregular days. Good only if Lake Chuzenji is removed or Toshogu is visited earlier.
Most culturally distinctive: Gyoshintei / Google Buddhist vegetarian shojin cuisine Near Toshogu in the Sannai area. Treat as a reserved destination lunch requiring a substantial sightseeing rewrite.
Best casual sit-down: Hippari-Dako / Google Yakisoba, yakitori, ramen and set meals Internationally accessible and inexpensive on the station-Shinkyo road, but compact and normally lunch-focused. It does not fit the current 16:30 return walk reliably.
Best portable regional food: Fudaraku Honpo Ishiyamachi / Google Yuba-wrapped rice snack Listed around 09:00-17:00 and directly useful on the walk back to the station. The most realistic supplement to the reserved bento.

Nikko constraint: the full Kegon-Lake Chuzenji-Toshogu-Shinkyo schedule has no reliable sit-down window. Keep the pre-ordered regional bento and portable dinner unless you deliberately remove the lake segment or return on a later train. Nikko Yubamaki ZEN is excluded on 10 November because Tuesday is its regular closing day.

Tokyo Food Choices by Category

This is a choice guide, not a list of additional meals. Ratings and Google review counts were observed on 22 September 2026 and will move over time. Every branch in the original categories passed three hard filters when checked: Tabelog 3.50 or higher, Google 4.0 or higher, and at least 100 Google reviews. The later-added hambāgu category uses current Tabelog scores and practical booking information; its Google review-count normalization was not recomputed. Re-open links before travelling and match the branch address.

The screening score is not a percentage grade. It weights normalized Tabelog rating at 45%, normalized Google rating at 35%, and the restaurant's category-relative logarithmic Google review-volume percentile at 20%. Each shortlist then balances overall quality, value, itinerary convenience and a distinctive experience. Price bands are Tabelog's listed per-person ranges. Cafes remain outside scope.

Ramen

Role / restaurant Ratings and screening score Area / budget Practical use
Best overall: Fuunji Shinjuku / Google Tabelog 3.77; Google 4.3 (5,694); score 42.6 Shinjuku; under JPY1,000 listed Excellent-value chicken-and-fish tsukemen near the tennis route. Walk-in queue; go outside peak lunch.
Distinctive bowl: Ginza Hachigo / Google Tabelog 3.90; Google 4.3 (2,153); score 38.5 Higashi-Ginza; JPY1,000-1,999 Refined clear broth and six counter seats. Secure a timed TableCheck slot rather than relying on a long walk-in wait.
Best itinerary fit: Ginza Kagari Honten / Google Tabelog 3.66; Google 4.2 (4,694); score 29.2 Ginza; JPY1,000-1,999 Creamy chicken-paitan close to Day 8 shopping. Walk-in only; keep the existing queue-abandonment deadline.
Destination pick: Ramen Break Beats / Google Tabelog 3.84; Google 4.3 (618); score 25.8 Meguro; JPY1,000-1,999 Modern, reservation-led ramen worth a dedicated detour. Its limited weekly service makes it unsuitable as a spontaneous fallback.

Teishoku

Role / restaurant Ratings and screening score Area / budget Practical use
Best overall: Shinjuku Kappo Nakajima / Google Tabelog 3.67; Google 4.3 (985); score 38.1 Shinjuku; lunch JPY1,000-1,999 Sardine-focused set lunches offer exceptional value near the tennis route. Queue before opening; Sunday and Monday are closed.
Best itinerary fit: Aoyama Ototo / Google Tabelog 3.72; Google 4.4 (195); score 28.9 Gaienmae; lunch JPY2,000-2,999 Seasonal fish sets within easy reach of Akasaka. Reserve when possible; Sunday is closed.
Distinctive breakfast/lunch: Katsuo Shokudo / Google Tabelog 3.68; Google 4.1 (755); score 26.6 Shibuya; JPY2,000-2,999 Bonito-led rice set with a narrow daytime window. Use only if the day already includes Shibuya; reserve or arrive early.
Best value: Shokudo Wata / Google Tabelog 3.72; Google 4.4 (132); score 23.9 Shinjuku-Gyoenmae; lunch JPY1,000-1,999 Small, modern set-meal restaurant convenient from Shinjuku. Check its current lunch calendar; Sunday is closed.

Sushi Omakase

Role / restaurant Ratings and screening score Area / budget Practical use
Best overall and itinerary fit: Ginza Kyubey Honten / Google Tabelog 3.66; Google 4.4 (2,609); score 41.2 Ginza; lunch JPY8,000-9,999, dinner JPY20,000-29,999 Keep the scheduled Day 8 counter lunch. Reserve through an authorized channel and confirm the menu available to one diner.
Best value: Manten Sushi Marunouchi / Google Tabelog 3.61; Google 4.3 (1,556); score 28.8 Marunouchi; JPY8,000-9,999 Compact counter near Tokyo Station with online booking. Strongest value substitute for Kyubey.
Western-route option: Sushi Tokyo Ten Shibuya / Google Tabelog 3.55; Google 4.2 (1,063); score 15.9 Shibuya; JPY10,000-14,999 Use only if shopping moves to Shibuya or Omotesando. Reserve and confirm a one-person counter seat.
Accessible fixed-price pick: Ginza Sushi Banya Kai / Google Tabelog 3.51; Google 4.4 (335); score 14.5 Ginza; JPY8,000-9,999 Straightforward fixed-price omakase in the itinerary area. Confirm solo availability and the exact course before paying.

Conveyor Belt / Kaiten Sushi

Role / restaurant Ratings and screening score Area / budget Practical use
Best overall and itinerary fit: Nemuro Hanamaru KITTE Marunouchi / Google Tabelog 3.55; Google 4.1 (3,055); score 25.8 Tokyo Station; JPY2,000-2,999 Hokkaido seafood in KITTE, directly useful around the Tokyo Station transfers. No reservations; take a queue ticket before exploring nearby.
Best Google rating: Kaiten Sushi Toriton Tokyo Solamachi / Google Tabelog 3.50; Google 4.2 (2,534); score 17.0 Oshiage; lunch JPY4,000-4,999, dinner JPY5,000-5,999 Strong Hokkaido selection and an English menu, but long waits and the Skytree detour make it a destination rather than a fallback.
Airport-route option: Toriton Atre Shinagawa / Google Tabelog 3.50; Google 4.0 (450); score 0.0 Shinagawa Station; JPY3,000-3,999 Convenient only when already changing trains at Shinagawa. No reservations, frequent queues and an 80-minute seating limit; do not jeopardize the Haneda buffer.

Only these three Tokyo branches met all hard filters in the current check. Popular alternatives such as Ginza Onodera and Katsu Midori remain excluded because their observed Tabelog scores were below 3.50.

Tonkatsu

Role / restaurant Ratings and screening score Area / budget Practical use
Best overall: Tonkatsu Narikura / Google Tabelog 4.27; Google 4.2 (611); score 41.6 Minami-Asagaya; JPY6,000-7,999 The quality-led destination, but it requires a dedicated reservation and cross-city trip. Confirm a one-person slot.

Distinctive pork selection: Nishiazabu Butagumi / Google Tabelog 3.59; Google 4.4 (1,341); score 24.7 Nishi-Azabu; lunch JPY2,000-2,999, dinner JPY4,000-4,999 Broad choice of pork breeds in a traditional house. Practical from Akasaka/Roppongi; verify a one-person table.

Japanese Curry Rice

Role / restaurant Ratings and screening score Area / budget Practical use
Best overall: European Curry Tomato / Google Tabelog 4.25; Google 4.2 (818); score 47.4 Ogikubo; JPY2,000-2,999 Exceptional spice-driven European-style curry, but it is a dedicated western detour with limited servings.
Classic choice: Bondy Jimbocho Honten / Google Tabelog 3.68; Google 4.3 (5,406); score 38.6 Jimbocho; JPY1,000-1,999 The high-volume classic for rich European-style curry. Expect a queue; combine with Kanda or the Imperial Palace side of town.

Hambāgu / Japanese Hamburger Steak

Role / restaurant Rating / budget Practical use
Best overall experience: Hikiniku to Kome Shibuya / official booking rules Tabelog 3.70, 2025 Yoshoku East Top 100; JPY1,000-1,999 listed Three charcoal-grilled patties served individually with rice and condiments. Queue-proof it with the online Advance Priority Ticket; 11:00-15:00 / 17:00-21:00, closed Wednesday. Best if a day already moves to Shibuya.
Best classic wagyu hamburg: Meat Yazawa Gotanda / official site Tabelog 3.68, 2025 Yoshoku East Top 100; lunch JPY2,000-2,999 100% black-wagyu hamburg with steak options. No useful itinerary adjacency and frequent queues; target a weekday around 14:00 or the 17:00 dinner opening.
Best post-tennis alternative: Hamburg Will / booking Tabelog 3.69, 2025 Yoshoku East Top 100; lunch JPY1,000-1,999, dinner JPY3,000-3,999 Distinctive 100% Iwanaka-pork hamburg, counter seating and bookable dinner slots. Strongest Day 2 fallback because it avoids travelling from Shinjuku to Ginza after tennis.

Its weekday lunch centers on teppan-cooked hamburg; 11:30-14:30, Sunday closed and no Saturday lunch. Easiest Day 3 substitute, but creates consecutive beef-heavy meals after Ushigoro.
High-end aged-beef option: Koishikawa Nakasei / TableCheck Tabelog 3.74; lunch course about JPY8,800+ Excellent aged Tajima beef, but hamburg is a small course component rather than the sole focus. Reserve for one; choose only as a dedicated meal excursion.

Onitsuka Tiger, Tennis and Running Guide

Onitsuka Tiger: Where to Buy

Use a brand-operated shop rather than a marketplace reseller. Store names, hours and stock can change, so verify through the Onitsuka Tiger Japan site during the travel week.

  1. Onitsuka Tiger Ginza, primary: 7-8-8 Ginza, Chuo-ku; listed 11:00-20:00 daily when checked. It is a short walk from Kyubey and fits the Day 8 shopping block without rerouting.
  2. Ginza Red Concept Store, specialist backup: Seishokan Building, 4-5-1 Ginza; listed 11:00-20:00 daily. Use it if seeking the Mexico 66-focused range or personalisation, but confirm that the desired service and same-day collection are operating.
  3. Onitsuka Tiger Shibuya 1, stock fallback: 1-21-3 Jinnan, Shibuya-ku; listed 11:00-20:00. Visit only if Ginza lacks the required model/size, because it adds a cross-city detour on departure day.

At the first shop, show a screenshot of the exact model, colour code and size. Try both shoes, walk in them, inspect the box label, and ask the shop to check another branch before travelling across town. Carry the physical passport and ask whether the purchase qualifies for tax-free handling; eligibility and packaging rules are decided at purchase. Do not plan around a cafe inside a concept store.

One Tennis Lesson

Primary booking: Sunday 8 November, 15:00-16:00 at Hilton Tokyo, Shinjuku. The hotel lists an outdoor court open 07:00-21:00 and professional lessons by reservation through Tokyo Tennis International. The published visitor lesson fee is JPY16,000 for 60 minutes or JPY24,000 for 90 minutes. A separate Hilton weekend court tariff shows JPY10,000 for 60 minutes for one or two visitors, so ask whether court hire is included before paying.

Email info@tokyotennisinternational.com and provide: 8 November 2026; preferred 15:00 start plus two fallback times; one adult; playing level; desired 60-minute private lesson in English; loan-racket request; and a request for the total including court, balls, equipment, tax and visitor changing-room access. Bring sportswear and tennis shoes. The published cancellation policy is 100% within 24 hours; confirm rain handling because the court is outdoors.

Alternatives:

Book only one provider. If rain cancels the outdoor lesson, restore the Day 2 hotel-rest/packing block; do not displace a confirmed dinner or force tennis into departure day.

Running Plan: 5-10 km

Prioritise the Saturday 14 November Imperial Palace run. The official Tokyo guide describes the perimeter as a roughly 5.3 km, mostly flat route without traffic lights. From Hotel Monterey Akasaka, the run to the western side of the palace, one loop and the return should total roughly 9-10 km, depending on the connecting streets. Run counter-clockwise, keep left, stay single-file on narrow sections and yield to pedestrians.

The shorter backup is Sunday 8 November around Akasaka Palace. One outer lap is approximately 3.3 km; adding the hotel connections produces roughly 5 km. It is hillier than the Imperial Palace. Keep it easy because the afternoon tennis lesson and normal sightseeing already create a high activity load.

Timing and weather:

What to wear:

Check rain, wind and pavement conditions the night before. Wet ginkgo/maple leaves can be slippery. Carry the hotel key, phone and a small amount of cash/IC card; the palace loop has fountains and public toilets, so a handheld bottle is optional for an easy 5-10 km run.

Reservations and Documents

When Action
Before paying anything Verify the issued JAL flight numbers, terminals and baggage allowance. Identify passport nationality, visa eligibility, food allergies, and any restrictions relevant to public baths/pools.
Now Reserve refundable hotel rooms for one adult. Verify final payable total, local accommodation/bathing taxes, meal inclusions, beds, cancellation time zone and arrival instructions.
With hotel booking Reserve The Fujiya and Kikka-so separately if Fujiya is room-only; retain Cascade only as fallback. Ask Monterey about holding the main suitcase only from checkout on 11 Nov until return on 13 Nov.
As restaurant calendars permit Request Ushigoro on 8 Nov, Ototo and Unafuji on 9 Nov, Kondo on 13 Nov, and Kyubey lunch on 14 Nov. These are priority requests, not existing reservations. One-person booking and course minimums need confirmation.
10 October onward Pre-order one SPACIA X Nikko Buried Treasure Bento for 10 Nov pickup at Tobu-Nikko, but only after the outbound train is booked and ACCESS confirms the 11:22 pickup procedure.
As soon as the Day 2 structure is accepted Email Tokyo Tennis International for the 8 Nov 15:00 private lesson and obtain one all-in price including court hire, equipment and visitor changing-room access.
10 October, 09:00 JST / 08:00 Singapore Book both 10 Nov Tobu limited expresses when the one-month sales window opens: 09:30 Revaty Kegon 13 from Asakusa and 17:44 SPACIA X 12 from Tobu-Nikko. Buy the required base fares and reserved-seat supplements.
Around 11 October Book the 11 Nov Tokyo-Odawara train, targeting arrival around 10:30 for lunch and the Hakone transfer.
Around 13 October Book 13 Nov Odawara-Tokyo return, keeping Tokyo arrival around 14:00-15:00 for dinner margin.
Before the free-cancellation deadlines Reconfirm plans; Monterey's observed 7-11 Nov deadline is 29 Oct at 22:00. Check the policy attached to each actual confirmation.
1-2 weeks before travel Recheck attraction closures, bus schedules, restaurant operating days, menu changes and weather guidance. Use the official links below.
Before arrival Complete Visit Japan Web immigration/customs pre-registration if using it; it is not a visa. Prepare hotel address, onward ticket and travel insurance details.

Entry and Payment Essentials

Clothing, Bathing and Luggage

Budget Without Double Counting

Component Planning amount
Confirmed JAL round-trip flight, already paid S$1,053
Three premium-plan hotel bookings at refreshed quotes About S$2,395
Food, snacks and drinks; no Nikko hotel meals are included JPY140,000-200,000, approximately S$1,270-1,820
All Japan ground transport: airport rail, Tokyo rides, Nikko Tobu day trip, local buses, Hakone pass and JR return JPY32,000-42,000, approximately S$290-380
Core admissions and a small optional-attraction allowance JPY6,000-9,000, approximately S$55-80
One private tennis lesson and possible separate weekend court fee JPY16,000-26,000, approximately S$145-235
Premium-plan total including the paid flight, before contingency About S$5,205-5,965
Premium-plan practical total-trip envelope About S$5,500-6,400, including the paid flight but excluding shopping

The premium envelope allows for repricing, booking fees, local taxes, small transport changes and moderate extras. Replacing Fujiya with Hakone Yutowa lowers the practical envelope to roughly S$4,950-5,870. Choosing Blisstia instead can reduce it by another roughly S$200. A guaranteed extra hotel night/day-use stay or substantial alcohol/spa treatments can require more.

The S$300/night preference is preserved for Tokyo, not for the whole trip. The Hakone resort may exceed it. The Nikko day trip reduces hotel cost but shifts part of that saving into transport and separately purchased meals.
